Kinsale is an Excess & Surplus lines insurer specializing in hard-to-place, small to medium sized commercial accounts. Kinsale is eligible in all states and writes a variety of Property, Casualty and Specialty lines through fifteen underwriting divisions. Given the experience of our staff and our control over the underwriting and claims processes, Kinsale offers unmatched underwriting flexibility to brokers placing difficult E&S accounts. Kinsale will consider offering terms on a wide range of risks including accounts with new or high hazard operations and businesses that have a poor loss history or that are located in high risk venues.

Job Summary:
The Chief Information Officer at Kinsale Insurance is responsible for the entire IT function including all processes and procedures for network, development, security, and regulatory controls.
Kinsale's IT department is highly integrated in the business, as IT is a competitive advantage for the company. As such, learning, knowing, and understanding Kinsale's business is paramount for the CIO.
All software for underwriting, claims, and servicing has been developed in house and is maintained with open source software and Agile methodology using the following products: Linux OS, Java, Tomcat, Eclipse/intelliJ, JIRA/Confluence, Spring, Maven, Angular, Selenium, Ruby Rails, Bamboo/Jenkins.

The CIO is also responsible for negotiating and maintaining IT contracts, budgeting, billing, inventory management, and managing Kinsale software licenses.

The CIO leads approximately 40 employees and contractors as well as a small off shore team. This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is expected to build strong relationships with all functional leaders.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 10 years' experience in leadership roles within the Information Technology that include progressively more enterprise-wide responsibility and exposure
Experience with open source development, Amazon web services, and Agile methodology
